New Product Development, Technology and Food
Vinod Bhandari has extensive expertise in innovation, technology and product development, both working with
established businesses and hi-tech start-ups.
He holds a BSc. (Hons) in Electro-Mechanical Engineering and is a Doctor of Philosophy in innovative medical instruments.
Early in his career, Vinod spent eight years at the University of Dar Es-Salaam, both as Professor of the Department of
Mechanical Engineering and an Expert with the Overseas Development Administration and Swiss Development Cooperation
Agency.
He then spent a year as consultant to the Institute of Production Innovation where he was responsible for the Production of
Crystalline Sugar project for German Technical Aid (GTZ). While here he was also awarded ACP-EEC Best Innovation
Award (1992) for the Village Level Sugar Project, Brussels.
Other positions held include four years at Botswana Technology Centre, both as Technology Development Manager and
Acting Managing Director, and a year as an associate consultant at Genesis Management Consultants, assisting new
high-tech businesses with market entry strategies, business planning and raising finance.
For the past eight years Vinod has been an innovation and technology adviser, specialising in the food industry and
focusing on new product development, intellectual property, technology marketing and financing issues.
